While New York and Seattle are credited with forging this new age of alternative rock, beneath the Mason-Dixon line a quartet of adolescents are trying to put Georgia in that matrix. The Desarios have a really good shot. They assembled as all bands do. Boy meets music, boy makes music, and boy meets boys who also make music. With an average age just shy of 18 the group is led by Cory Jasin on vocals and rhythm guitar, Alston Causey on lead guitar/keyboards, Charlie McKenzie on bass, and Patrick Jasin on drums. Through their common inspiration in such classic acts as The Cars and The Buzzcocks, as well as strong modern influence obtained from bands like Rooney and The Strokes, Georgia’s own Desarios have a unique blend of rock n’ roll layered with poppy melodies. They produce a sound full of catchy, yet elegant guitar riffs alongside booming percussion that fabricates nothing but professionalism. And whoever said teenagers are lazy? In describing their music, the group coined the term “Happy Rock.” Happy it is. It makes you happy that you argued with your mom just so you could see them in some rundown venue in Atlanta. Not to mention happy that you might be witnessing something bigger than just another common garage band. -Mac Little (Desarios Guru)
