‘The Enemy is Listening’ gained national attention by being a finalist in VH-1’s song of the year contest (2004) with the first hit off their self-titled album called “Rockstar”. The band consists of four members and hails from Metro Detroit (Michigan). The band finds inspiration from a wide variety of sources, including Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Faith No More, and Weezer, along with Old school Punk from the Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedy’s. The band remains largely underground, though they have created quite a massive local following. The strong base of local support (which are known as “Enemies”) haven’t allowed the band to take a break with constant demand for new material. The band is currently recording two new singles to follow up their latest release. However, live performance remains the forte of this energetic quartet, which is evidenced by Larry Cupp’s Vocals and overall stage presence which commands the attention of all. Combined with this boisterous frontman are the guitar and harmonies of Barak Fite, the melodic grooves of bass player Phil Maguire, and the creative timekeeping of Drummer Ben McMartin.
