• Upcoming Show: July 9 at Reggies

We hope you all have exciting plans for the upcoming long weekend, but there's something else to look forward to even after the holiday hot dogs and beer are gone. A week from today, on Thursday, July 9th, the Lost Cartographers will return to our favorite South Side club, Reggie's Music Joint, to play with an amazing lineup of out-of-town visitors (Brooklyn's Ne'er Do Evers and Balthrop, Alabama) and Chicago's own Brother George. This promises to be a really cool show, and the booker from Reggie's is so excited about that she named it her "pick of the month." The show starts at 8pm with just a $5 cover. See details on the other bands (plus food and drink specials, etc.) here. If you think you'll be able to make it, please let us know on Facebook or MySpace.

  • Reminder: "Walk On" Record Release Party, June 19th

We're just one week away from the release party for "Walk On," our debut album on Imaginary Chicago Records. On Friday, June 19th at Morseland (1218 W. Morse, Chicago), we'll be playing with About a Girl. The show starts at 10pm, and the cover is just $5. We'll have some new songs, our first-ever t-shirts, and of course, plenty of cds for sale! If you're planning on coming to the show and happen to be on Facebook, please let us know.

Can't make the show but still want a copy of the album? Check out our music page to order a cd or to find out where you can download the album.

By the way, "Walk On" is starting to get some press -- check out our first major review!

We look forward to seeing you next week!

  • CD now available + new website!

"Walk On," our debut album from Imaginary Chicago Records is now available for purchase as a cd or .mp3 download on CDBaby.com.

To celebrate, we've also launched our brand new website: Check it out at http://lostcartographers.com/ and let us know what you think!

  • Upcoming Show: Friday, May 8 at the Red Line Tap

We're heading back to the Red Line Tap (7006 N. Glenwood in Chicago), this time on a Friday. We'll be sandwiched between the Dimestore String Band and Sawbuck, so it should be a great show. And all this for just five bucks.

Bring your friends! Bring your enemies! Bring some cash! (because rumor has it the band may have some cds to sell...)

  • Vote for us in the Chicago Reader's "Best of Chicago" Poll!

    Dear Cartographers fans,

The Chicago Reader has launched its 2009 "Best of Chicago" poll, and you can vote for the Lost Cartographers in the music category. We hope you'll consider nominating us in "Best Folk/Country Act," and/or in the area where we probably stand the greatest chance: "Best Name!"

    Thanks for your vote,

    The Lost Cartographers

  • Happy New Year from the Lost Cartographers!

2008 marked the Lost Cartographers' second full year as a band, and the first full year with our current lineup. It was a busy one; aside from playing a bunch of shows (thanks to all of you for coming out!), we just put the final touches on what we hope will be the final mix of our debut album, "Walk On." If all goes as planned, we should be announcing an official release date soon.

With the impending release of "Walk On," 2009 promises to be even busier; we're even kicking around the idea of a mini-Midwest tour in the summer to promote the record. And it all starts with a January 28th show at the Red Line Tap. Details on this show are still TBA, but we're planning to debut some new material, including a bluesy torch song by Gabrielle, a Zeppelinesque epic by Karl (his first contribution to the corpus of Cartographeriana), and what we're pretty confident in calling the only alt.country retelling of the ancient Hindu tale known as the Ramayana. You don't want to miss this show, so keep an eye out for future updates.

In the meantime, we hope you are all enjoying the holidays and want to thank you again for your support of the band!

    Yours, The Lost Cartographers
