The Petting Zoo was a rock band from Kirksville, MO in the early to mid 1990's. Members were Scott Ludtke (vocals/guitar), Todd Jensen (bass/keyboards/vocals), Nathaniel Williams (bass/guitar/vocals), Corey Heider (guitar/bass/vocals), and Jim Lehmann (drums and lots o' percussion).
The members of The Petting Zoo met in the little redneck college town, Kirksville, Missouri. They had been practicing in an
old abandoned hotel near a railroad track until a lot of their shit got stolen. You know, there's a fine line between Tom Waits and
Jimmy Buffett.
The Petting Zoo is a cross-cultural amalgamation of stereotypical male behavioral patterns as typified by many
cultures. As a band, they have set out to exploit these behaviors and make them as neat as possible. They use tribal rhythms of
several sub-populations and emotional, didactic lyrics in a montage effect to dazzle those who know nothing of real musical talent. They have obviously studied just enough ethnomusicology to be
dangerous.
Oh, I just found these. I like. I like.
I clicked on the "come to my town" box. Does that mean that if enough people in Mpls request it that you'll have a Petting Zoo concert in Minneapolis?

geez. I'd forgotten about some of these. Todd added some good touches to the first tape.
