"Sam Phillips recorded a lot of great music at Sun Records, but maybe no song as beautiful as this one, by a prison vocal group. Lots of weird mythology surrounds the band. Its leader says that it was Elvis himself, about 18 months before recording his first song (then, just a kid loitering around the studio), that helped on the arrangement to achieve its "Ink Spots-like" fragility when Phillips stepped out for a sandwich. I dont think I believe that... but a good story, no? The band leader also claims Hank Williams bought "Your Cheatin' Heart" from him for $5."
