The Protectors are: Pete Stals – Vocals/Guitar, Sunny Wood – Drums/Vocals, Willy Coleman – Guitar/Vocals and William Wood – Bass/Vocals from (Newcastle, Australia).
Things are starting to roll in OZ with the band being asked to support acts like The Vasco Era, Mercy Arms, The Holidays, British India, End of Fashion and Wolf & Cub along with appearances at Purple Sneakers, Sosueme and Streeparty.
At a recent gig The Protectors were pounding through another visceral set and one person in particular just happened to be in the venue and was quite simply “Blown Away” - Triple J’s lunchtime DJ Vijay Khurana. The following morning Triple J began to play their infectious indie demo track “ALL SYSTEMS GO”.
Caroline Tran recently stated on Home and Hosed that “ALL SYSTEMS GO” was like a “breath of fresh air blowing into your room…”
“All Systems Go” is a big beat stadium rocker with guitars set to stun…I am beginning to feel guilty having so much fun trying to hit the insanely high falsetto notes in the back ground as I punch the air to the drums while sitting at my computer.” (Gemma Campagna www.2threads.com)
With the local underground scene in Australia beginning to take hold of the band it was only a matter of time before the international scene would take note. White Stripes producer Jim Diamond recently listened to the band online and decided to mix one of their demos in Detroit and has now requested to record the bands debut EP. No date has been set for recordings as the first aim for The Protectors is to play live.
