The Pulsars were created in 1999 by NYC saxophonist Michael Weisberger and bassist Dan Freeman. They met in Brazil during a tour there and while hanging out on Copacabana beach decided to record upon returning to NYC. The tune 'Saunter Down 6th Avenue" was recorded for free at the IAR, a recording school in NYC. It features the amazing drum work of Dennis Davis - renown for his playing with David Bowie and Stevie Wonder. Also on percussion is Ismael "Bongo" Bruno from Buster Poindexter's group and the great B3 of Oliver von Essen. The Pulsars played around NYC for about 2 years and several phenomenol players came through the line up including Eric Lewis (piano) who is currently with Wynton Marsalis and Vince Cherico who works with Eddie Palmieri. Michael Weisberger went on to tour with Tito Puente, Celia Cruz and Jose Alberto. Dan Freeman currently plays in the NYC electronic duo Comandante Zero.
