A combination of motown and punk: they were described at the time as "The four Tops on Speed" I believe! They even managed some success in the mainstream without ever compromising their left-wing political ideals - I remember them being cut off on the weekly music show "The Tube" when they made vocal their support of the UK miners strike. "
