The Royal We The Royal We have been appearing in various venues around Asheville and other Southeastern states since 2001. Several fine musicians from Asheville's ever-talented and ever-growing pool of musicians have played their fine instruments in the different incarnations of the band. Founded and fronted by songwriter / producer / singer / guitarist / thereminist Chris Tanfield, The Royal We has released a handful of 'Live' CD's and self-produced studio EP's over the years. This marks their first 'Official' release on CD, which is also available online at I-Tunes and CD Baby. The Royal We F.A.Q. • What is the band’s style? o Retro rock, blues, funk, americana, and a few surprises • Who does The Royal We sound like? o Steely Dan meets Wilco, Neil Young meets The Rolling Stones, The Band meets The Kinks… • Where has The Royal We performed? o All over NC, SC, TN, and VA o Notable venues: Bele Chere Festival, The Orange Peel, The Grey Eagle, Stella Blue, WNCW Local Color Radio Show, Asheville Music Zone, One Degree of Separation Festival • What instruments does The Royal We use? o Voice, guitars, bass, drums, and a theremin – a strange electronic instrument from the 1920’s with a ghostly, spacey sound (plus keyboards at a few shows) • Does The Royal We have a CD? o Yes. There are two bands called "The Royal We", one from Germany, one from Scotland. They are mixed together here. Both are excellent but at the same time very different music. This needs to be sorted out.
