  An utterly stunning band. Earlier stuff is a tad less polished but all the more potent for it. (They had Motorhead's producer Vic Maile on the job.) I still feel angry about the way Electra gave them such shoddy treatment. These days only those who are discerning and pretty knowledgable about music seem to know about them. It's an exclusive sort of club. Personally I'm waiting for the second coming of Mr Carter and his screaming blue telecaster.

  Gun-Shy is an okay Clash knock-off, Totally Religious less so. Bikini Red, on the other hand, is like the Clash genetically spliced with the Feelies — of the 11 "songs," at least 7 would be more properly termed "rave-ups" — and is possibly better than any album either of those two estimable bands ever made.
