Genetically united from conception, brothers Wes and Dean Primicias hatched their long-incubated dream last year with the formation of The Shrines. Bass guitarist Ryan Hovland and drummer Marc Thomas round out the band's unique "bipolar-pendulum" rock sound, characterized by frequent and intentional changes in tempo and mood within each song, that has propelled The Shrines into the forefront of San Diego's indie-rock scene.
Wide-ranging influences from The Smiths, Pink Floyd, Travis, R.E.M., The Pretenders and Radiohead, contribute to the sensitive lyrics, delicate bass lines and charged drum fills that make up the band's unique sound.
The Shrines were recently graced as "Extra Special Good" in San Diego City Beat's 2004 Demo Review. In May of 2004, the band will be debuting their Promo CD and will be touring Southern California later in the year.
