In mid 2003, Thirteen Black was born when bassist Justin Kase and longtime partner in crime guitarist DVN moved to Arizona after noticing a decline in the Los Angeles punk scene. Prior to thirteen black, both performed in numerous bands including Society One and Poser. Before they even packed, they had a new band together that included Phoenix drummer Mike Stand who boasts a long resume including IMFM. The final brick of the foundation was laid when vocalist (filthy) Rich Volkening joined following the breakup of his former act, Eating Divas. Thirteen Black blends fast, hardcore punk with the catchy hooks of the new school sound. Known for their amazing energy, their incredible live show is already creating a buzz in the local scene. Through hard work and dedication they have distributed thousands of copies of their demo and are quickly building a strong following.
