Born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI, Toby Singer has been writing and self producing his varied musical visions since 2002. Beginning in an embarassing (but pretty decent) pop-punk outfit entitled the Nice Jewish Boys, Toby moved into emotive, drippy singer/songwriter land before recognizing that land as a pretty serious and solemn place. If you have met Toby, this does not sound like the sort of place that he would enjoy. Quickly, he refocused his energies into a more happy, energetic, upbeat place with bouncy beats, lively harmonies and friendly song-imageries. Soon after, he moved again, forming the Toby Singer Band, intent on gathering all the castaway Ben Folds fans that had been searching for Forever and Ever Amen , Part II. However, with the future of his geographical location in doubt, Toby has turned again to his solo writing and recording. His latest musical adventure finds himself trying to synthesize the off-kilter pop sounds of XTC, Weezer and Sondheim with an electronic undercurrent that creates some of the most catchy and infectious songs ever written.
