Tony DeSare has become one of New York's hottest new young singer/pianists. His sound is romantic, swinging, sensual, and sophisticated pop/jazz. Though it can be said that Tony is part of the new breed of young singers keeping classic American music alive, what sets Tony apart is his ability to write original material that sounds fresh and at the same time blends seamlessly with the classics. Tony has the capability to glide from Gershwin to Tom Waits to one of his own songs with ease. The complete package is a musical vision that is steeped in the pop tradition just as much as it is in jazz. Born in Glens Falls, New York, Tony was raised in a musical family and started singing and playing professionally at 17. By the time Tony started college, he had opened for Paul Revere and the Raiders, built a large regional following playing to packed houses, received daily radio play on AC stations throughout upstate New York and sold 2000 units of his first independently released CD, Songs In Time. He is currently receiving airplay on Magic 100.3 FM, 98.5 WCKM, and WWSC 1450AM in upstate New York. The Tony DeSare trio was one of the most popular bands in central New York State while Tony attended Ithaca College. Tony and his band continually sold out shows in clubs and showcases throughout upstate New York. He took first place in the "IC Showcase," a college sponsored national battle of the bands and was a semi-finalist in the MasterCardActs, a national talent search for college performers. Tony moved to New York City in 1999 and soon started an engagement at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. In 2000, he was cast in the Off-Broadway hit, "Our Sinatra," in which Tony had numerous stints as the lead. Tony has also been a featured performer at Jilly's, the legendary Rat Pack era celebrity hangout owned by Sinatra's best friend. In the fall of 2002, Tony performed at the Apollo theater where he first met the legendary Bucky Pizzarelli. Since then, Tony and Bucky have performed numerous times together and have recently recorded a full length CD. The recording also features Mike Lee, a young, multi-talented New York based bassist who is also Tony's songwriting partner. Currently, Tony has become a main attraction at New Jersey's premier jazz club, Shanghai Jazz, where he plays monthly to sold out crowds. Tony and Mike are also featured in New York TV personality, Bill Boggs', new show, "Talk Show Confidential," playing at the John Houseman Theater.
