Toubab (a.k.a. Tim MacNeill) has written for, and performed in, many bands - from punk, to pop, to art-rock - for many years and six recordings. At times recieving little attention, at others a great deal, Toubab has performed for crowds from three to thirty-tousand people as various times. The music industry is a terribly tough and depressing thing to live through. A true musician cannot stop playing music no matter how hard they may try. Hence Toubab keeps going - driven by a hardly rational passion for making music. The material in the most recent recording "Love Songs for Xela" was written in Guatemala, Honduras, and Chiapas Mexico in the summer of 2004 and recorded in 2005/6. These songs are being mixed, and released individually and electronically only. The goal of Toubab's current writing is simplicity - easing away from the more complex arrangements and lyricism of his past.
