What is it about Trixie's Itch that makes them so appealing? Is it the funky grooves? The growling guitars? The infectious melodies? The extensive use of adjectives? This band wears their influences on their sleeves. As disciples of the guitar driven rock, funk, and blues of the 1960s and early 70s, it's no surprise that Trixie's Itch has garnered volumes of critical and popular acclaim. However, this group of twenty-somethings achieve more than just an original blend of 'blue-eyed suburban funk/rock.' The members of Trixie's Itch are more than just musicians. They are renaissance men. Trixie's Itch was founded in 1998 by Brad Small (Bass) and Rob Roth (Guitar). Small is an accomplished session player whose funky bass grooves can be heard on an eclectic array of chart toppers from artists ranging from the Olson Twins to Barney. Despite his busy schedule in the studio and on the road, Small still finds time to volunteer at an upscale daycare center singing nursery school rhymes to the affluent children of dual income families. Roth , a veteran of numerous high school polka and jug bands, enjoys guitar hero status on the dance-a-thon and semiformal scene. Besides being known as the 'fastest hands' in Valley Cottage (a one stop-sign town in upstate New York), Roth is also a well known self-help guru whose inspirational infomercials have helped millions of overweight men and women overcome their battles with gravity. Derek Nicoletto (vocals) was asked to join the band after completing an 'Off-Off Broadway' run of his one-man production of the Sound of Music in which Nicoletto performed all of the parts. As Roth explains the decision, 'It was a no brainer.' Nicoletto, or 'Dr. Derek' as the band now calls him, has also recently completed a dissertation that is destined to become the definitive work on auto eroticism. And then there is Daniel (Keyboards) and Thierry (Drums). Quite frankly, their stories are not very interesting. So, after multi-platinum albums, dozens of awards, sold out stadium tours, and mountains of good deeds, Trixie's Itch yearns to return to the sweaty, more intimate showcase hell that is the New York City club scene.
