Trooper's New, Updated, Remastered, Greatest Hits Collection
To celebrate their 35th Anniversary, Trooper and Universal Music Canada are proud to announce the release of a totally updated and re-mastered CD: "Hits From 10 Albums" - a new collection featuring songs spanning the entirety of their recording career.
Finally, Trooper hits like Janine, Three Dressed Up as a Nine, Boy with a Beat, Real Canadians, American Dream and Thin White Line - all conspicuously absent from Trooper's 'Hot Shots' hits collection - are available together with the rest of the band's many hits on one powerful new package.
NOW AVAILABLE online at www.trooper.com
Remastered by Craig Waddell of Gotham City Studios, Trooper's seventies hits that were noticeably lacking in sound quality on the Hot Shots CD have been updated with a new sonic strength and vitality not heard since the tracks were first played back in the recording studio.
"It sounds unbelievable," said singer Ra McGuire in a recently published interview with Regina's Leader Post. "It's pretty exciting. I'd really love to be able to just swap out all the copies of Hot Shots with everybody," he said with a laugh, “but according to the record company, that's not cost effective."
The collection also includes a ten-page booklet of detailed liner notes written by McGuire, and many photos of the band taken throughout the years.
The new CD will be released on Canada Day 2010 and will be on sale at the Trooper online store.
Here’s the Universal Music press release:
(23 JUNE 2010 – TORONTO, ON) On Canada Day, July 1st, 2010 - 35 years to the day after their first ever release - Canadian Rock icons Trooper get the definitive retrospective treatment with Hits From 10 Albums, a new collection that visits their entire body of work.
Ra McGuire and Brian Smith began, under the name Winter's Green, making music together in Vancouver in the late '60s. Meeting Tommy Stewart and Harry Kalensky in the early '70s, they changed their name to Applejack and went about making their name on the touring circuit with vigour. Randy Bachman heard the band perform, signed them to his own label, produced them in the studio and, one name change later, their debut album, Trooper, was released on Canada Day: July 1, 1975.
As one of Canada's top five selling bands of all time, Trooper rocked the late '70s to the early '90s with a dozen hits - including the anthemic Canadian classics "Raise A Little Hell", "The Boys in the Bright White Sports Car", "Oh, Pretty Lady" and "We're Here For A Good Time". True to its name, Hits From 10 Albums contains 17 of their most popular tracks, taken from each of their albums. Ra McGuire also contributes 10 pages of liner notes containing insights to their recording history.
The band's line-up has changed over the years but the Trooper spirit continues strong and undiminished. Trooper is a touring institution in Canada and this year will be no different. With more than 25 shows already announced and more to come, they will continue thrilling fans old and new across the country with Hits From 10 Albums as one more reason to celebrate a band that qualifies as a national treasure.
