Valencia knows that the art of signing a record deal isn't always a matter of who you know, but who is listening to you at 3:00 am. A very early March 2005 morning marked I Surrender Record's introduction to Valencia. An unsolicited three-track demo tape by the City of Brotherly Love brethren found its way into I Surrender owner Rob Hitt's tape deck and the connection was instant. Rather than wait until the more appropriate daylight hours, Hitt called the band at 3:00am to tell them how excited he was by their sound and that he wanted to release their first album. A week later, Valencia officially became a part of the I Surrender Records family and by October of 2005 had released their debut full-length "This Could Be A Possibility". Shane Henderson (vocals), Brendan Walter (guitar/vocals), JD Perry (guitar), George Ciukurescu (bass), and Max Soria (bass) came together in 2003 to form Valencia. Since then, the band has created a uniquely infectious blend of guitar-mangled, multi-layered, melodic rock reminiscent of early Saves the Day and New Found Glory. In the band's short touring career, they have shared the stage with such The All American Rejects and Fall Out Boy (not to mention The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Strokes and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Japan's 2006 Fuji Fest), as well as musical features on MTV’s “Road Rules”, “Parental Control”, and “The Real World”. Valencia have spent their summer with Nik Tyler and Matt Robnett to record the highly anticipated follow-up to “This Could Be A Possibility”, in addition to a three-week stint on the 2007 Vans Warped Tour. They recently completed their first headlining tour across the east coast, pushing the maximum occupancy in venues such as Delaware’s Harmony Grange, Pennsylvania’s Croc Rock, and New York’s Knitting Factory. In the fall, the band will travel to England with Hit the Lights and complete a full tour across the United States with Boys Like Girls. Touring, writing, and everything in between, Valencia have demonstrated dedication above and beyond anyone’s expectations. This young act's amazing musicianship, mature songwriting ability, and professionalism have impressed audiences wherever they go. It's even fair to say that as more people discover Valencia-either early in the morning or late at night-they will agree that the band's skills easily rival those of the scene's past and present favorites.
