  Saw WASP live last night for the first time. It was in Brisbane Australia. I was wearing my original Inside the Electric Cirus shirt (purchased in 1987) and wore it proudly! They played 2 sets, first set they played was the Crimson Idol album in its entirety (same song order). At the same time they had the Crimson Idol movie playing on screen above the stage. The downside to this was that they played to a backing tape. The tape included the backing vocals from the album and yes Blac... More... Saw WASP live last night for the first time. The downside to this was that they played to a backing tape. The tape included the backing vocals from the album and yes Blackie's vocal lines from the album as well. People who I talked to the gig who saw them in Sydney and now here agree that even though we "believe" (want to believe) Blackie was singing, we had to acknowledge there was a fair bit of lipsyncing. The lead guitarist and bass guitarist we think were are not playing in parts (based on some comments by guitar players in the audience). I am not surprised they were lipsyncing (or even pretending to play guitar) and using the backing tape because they had to stay in time with the movie. The movie was dictating what happened. For the whole first set, there was no pause to even say hi to the crowd. This only happened after the entire set had been played. Anyway, still great to hear the songs from that landmark album live. The drumming was unbelievable! The next set was brief but it was here they played the classics - love machine, i wanna be somebody, wild child; finishing with blind in texas. No backing tape to these songs all very much live, and talking between each song. Not surprising the crowd were more involved because finally the band became more involved with the crowd. Rather than the crowd more or less standing to watch a movie with a band playing the soundtrack. People knew the Crimson album but it was like watching a movie. Nevertheless, it was a dream to finally hear the band that started me down the hard rock -> heavy metal path. I dont think they will ever return to Australia. So I will savour this concert forever. Scream Until You Like It !!!!!!!!!!!!
