Warpharin was started in 1999 as John Farmer's personal music project. Named by flipping and pointing to a word in the dictionary, Warpharin's lineup includes John Farmer (Guitar, Vocals), Keith Shank (Guitar, Vocals), Dan Thies (Bass), Ryan Simpson (Drums, Vocals), and Ken Pilkington (Keyboards, Vocals). We've all been playing together for about 10 years, with the exception of our recent addition Lori Brooks (Backup Vocals). Last year we took up the name Warpharin as a group due to its existing moderate fan base. A more in depth look: Ken has played guitar for 12 years, and keyboard for 4 years. And has an associate’s degree in music. Ryan has been singing and playing drums off and on since he was 5 and is a DJ on the weekends, all the while pursuing an acting degree as a theater major at ISU. Keith has played guitar for about 12 years and also strums on the mandolin from time to time having been in various other bands including "The Hucks". Lori has long had a love for music and has only recently begun to perform on stage. Lori’s also taken on the task of band photographer, which she loves so much, it’s apparent she was born to take photos. Dan has played bass for about 12 years and is building a pro studio at his Goodfield home. John has been playing guitar for about 13 years and has been in other local bands including "The Hives". John takes on the majority of the writing; however, songs change and get better with the input of the entire band. Having written and recorded songs at his home studio for over 10 years, John has release assorted tapes and CDs to local record stores and has quite a library of music available on the web. Anything “Warpharin” on the web is John and/or Dan’s home studio work. John and Dan have played guitar and bass together almost exclusively since the start of their interest in music. Their list of projects include recording and performing with Mike Farmer’s “Toad Hall”, recording with Tim Beck in “Problem” and various other projects probably not worth mentioning. Our notable shows include: two rounds at the Bodog Battle of the Bands in Chicago, and Diversifest '06 in Pekin. We've played mostly in Peoria and once in Decatur. We have a large fan base on Myspace (www.myspace.com/warphar1n), with over 40,000 plays and a great looking website (www.warpharin.net). We have a lot of material available elsewhere on the web as well, easily found with a Google search.
