  • Pre- Order Impatience Now!

    You Effervescent Eye Patches,

Just a quick note to let you know that we are in charge now. On September 15, we release our third single off this second album, an album that needs no introduction, old Brain Thrust Mastery, the latest from us, We Are Scientists, a great little album full of huge riffs and huge songs and little tiny huge nuances that will stick with you till sometimes forever -- old Brain Thrust Mastery, of all things. The single? It's none other than Impatience, a song that needs no introduction, the fifth song on the album, maybe the peppiest, a real poppy slice of positivity with its driving kick/ snare charge and its sing-a-long chorus and its quiet-to-giant bridge...
    Impatience we're calling it.

In terms of B-Sides, we've dealt you a royal flush. Read 'em and weep big ol' chunks of steak down your cheeks:

    - New Me
    - Get Off
    - Dinosaurs (Ibiza Mix)

That's assuming you've got two wild cards; then that makes a royal

flush. Without giving too much more free advice, let us just say that if you like our take on modern rock, you will like-or-love all three of these songs. You might even vomit when you hear NEW ME, from nerves.

Pre-Order Impatience Now and forget about your old bad qualities
    .

What did you do last weekend? If you were at READING OR LEEDS, you already know what we did. If not, get a taste:
Here's what we did so easy; training involved, yes but at some point instinct takes over.

And, not to harp, but something else about Impatience: we made a great crappy video for it that you may have seen (hint: it involves a
34 minute fly-fishing sequence), and if you've been trying to think of a way to express your admiration for everything 'that video', consider heading over to MTV2's voter booth and keying in your approval:
A Vote for Impatience is a vote against George W. Bush, for the green revolution, against axe murder and for all lakes being converted to chocolate lakes.

    Until this time tomorrow,

    Lakes

  • We Are Scientists Release Third, Finest Yet Single From Brain Thrust Mastery... 'Impatience'(!)

On September 8th, We Are Scientists will release the third single from BRAIN THRUST MASTERY, the follow up to their major label debut WITH LOVE AND SQUALOR, the follow up to 27 years of obscurity and inconsequence.

IMPATIENCE, the new single getting talked about in that last paragraph, deftly combines a driving, four-on-the-floor beat with huge three-part harmonies, call-and-response verses à la Roxy Music, and a sweet summertime melody served up by the dork-hot New York 2-piece-plus just in time for Autumn.

Keenly aware that with the clip for Impatience their reputations as principal providers of meaningful, lighthearted, life-affirming video content would again be tested, W.A.S. cooked up a MONSTROUSly entertaining, WOLFISHly ambitious, TRANSFORMATIVEly redemptive music vid that truly ratchets their recent dog obsession one notch up the food chain. SHOOT THE VIDEO INTO YOUR EYES.

Singer Keith Murray and bassist Chris Cain, along with stage-mates Max Hart-Keys and Adam Drum-Aaronson, have spent the summer successfully driving home their message at Glastonbury, T In The Park, Oxegen, and Lithuania's Skullcracker Fest. The band will complete Europe's education at festivals including Reading & Leeds, Jersey Live, Pukkelpop, Frequency, and with a tour supporting REM on the continent in September.

For more information on We Are Scientists and BRAIN THRUST MASTERY , check out THIS INFORMATIVE VIDEO.

  • We've got some free tickets for you, to give you please.

We're playing a show at IndigO2 in London next week (on the 18th, for you calendar junkies) with The Charlatans and Newton Falkner, and we've got 100 pairs of tickets to give you, our faithful fanbase (slutty members of the fanbase are okay to win these, too). PUT YOUR LUCK TO THE TEST, you who have only ever experienced loss.

And of course it's "NATO Presents: Chick Lit Week" this week, which means that we are in a heated battle with hip-hoppers, crooners, rockers, and Van Morrison for that most coveted of chart positions: #15. If you want to help us acquire this grail, you can buy the vinyl or the CD, or you can download the mp3. B-sides include an acoustic take on After Hours; the lovely, driving Gauntlet; and Dance Off, which is very literally danceable. There are also two remixes -- one by Matt Helders (Optic Monkeys) and one by Danger -- that will turn your Chick Lit listening party into, well, a real party.

Take care of yourself! Chew multivitamins at all times, as cows chew cud!

  • Chick Lit, our new single song, got out

    You spandex oil tankers,

It's CHICK LIT Week this week, as declared by NATO. How will you celebrate? We asked a best-selling novelist, a Turner prize-winning artist, and a platinum-selling musician to spend a weekend together at a picturesque retreat in the Scottish Highlands coming up with a few ideas:

    1) Order all three physical formats -- a CD and two vinyls -- for ₤3.

    2) Download the digital bundle from iTunes for ₤2.50 and get remixes by Matt Helders and Danger.

That's all these people, these celebrated creators, came up with. Buy the physical, buy the digital. When they reported back to us, after the weekend in the Highlands that we had paid for, we looked them right in the eye and told them, "Great job, everyone!" The fact is, we're intimidated by their CVs. But we're fairly sure they're not on our mailing list, so this is the time for us to say, "Really bad job, you guys." ("Super disappointing results from you.")

Well one thing WE'RE doing to celebrate "NATO Presents: Chick Lit Week" is playing some acoustic shows at some record stores. It's a tradition! Here's where we'll be:

    Today, ACTION RECORDS, Preston
    Tuesday, FOPP, Nottingham
    Wednesday, SPILLERS RECORDS, Cardiff
    Thursday, SISTER RAY, London

Please join us if you love half an hour of acoustic music and you live anywhere in the UK or northern Europe. From Iceland is also not too far to travel (consult your travel agent for more information). We don't recommend coming from the Mediterranean, South America, Asia, etc. You'll be disappointed. Finland, say, would be on the fence; depends how much you love half an hour of acoustic music. Mexico: too far. Luxembourg: come. Algeria: too far. Germany: come. Switzerland, even: come. New Zealand: stay home; do something else.

  • Watch The New Video For Chick Lit!

    The Song

"Chick Lit tells the story of a young girl named Agatha who one day, while collecting fire wood to blend into an immune-system boosting power shake, encounters a magic well. She knows the well is magic because it smells like Axe, and so she nervously calls three desperate wishes into its still black depths. There isn't a lot of room for storytelling in a three minute pop song, unless you're Bright Eyes, so that's where the story ends, but we definitely intend to pick it up in another song somewhere down the line. For now, try to revel in the promise of this initial set-up."

    The Video

"We made a video. In it, we play pirates who contemplate a change in career when they learn that they could double their salaries by driving a semi truck."

Chick Lit is releaed on the 9th of June.

    Watch the video here.

We Are Scientists have also just announced details of a very intimate show at The Barfly in Brighton as part of The Great Escape Festival. Tickets and details here.

  • WE ARE SCIENTISTS APRIL UK TOUR 2008 LIVE ALBUM

APRIL UK TOUR 2008 LIVE ALBUM

We've employed a company called 'Concert Live' to shatter the laws of physics on this tour. On four of the UK dates, they'll record the set and mix it in a van outside the venue, then print it using a super-fast CD burner machine that looks like R2D2 but with five legs, and make it available for sale 10(!) minutes after the show. Actually, you can buy it anytime, including now, and then either pick it up after the show or have it shipped to you. There are many options; too many to count on one hand or enumerate in one email. But so we did it for the first time Saturday night at the Barrowlands in Glasgow, and it sounds pretty darn good. During Textbook, Keith went down into the crowd, just like Sinatra used to, and so you can hear kids singing into his mic, their voices all junked out on pills -- so that's the downside of the Barrowlands recording. On the plus side, on that very song, you have Max Hart adding some beautiful never-before-heard guitar line that amplifies the romance of an already romantic song tenfold. Live recordings! They practically define magic.

So the recordings are being made at the Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, and London shows, but the discs will be available at all shows after they've been recorded, until they're sold out (we're printing 1500 copies of each show). Check out Concert Live's website for all the factuals on this (you can also order the discs here): WE ARE LIKE PEARL JAM NOW.
