WineGrog is a project formed by two friends and former band mates who became reacquainted at local open mic nights. After becoming intrigued by each others’ approach to song-craft, Ronnie Grana and Craig Sorensen began splitting shows at coffee houses as well as spending time talking about musical goals they hoped to achieve. After a while it seemed the two shared a similar mind for music and decided to join efforts in creating songs. After many abandoned attempts, they finally reached a conceptual approach to common emotional experiences that they, as well as others, could genuinely feel and appreciate. So to their existing set list, which consisted of a few individual originals, a fifth song (Wait, I Can’t Wait) was added. The collaborative effort marked the initiation of what would become a quest towards total self-expressionism through musical creativity. It was around this time that a friend of the duo (Rick Ackerman) caught wind of what was going on and decided that he wanted in. Rick had only recently traded his six strings for four, but his desire to master the bass drove him to attend clinics and practice feverishly. The new, smoother style that he emerged with eliminated the hesitance of Grana and Sorensen, and landed Ackerman a permanent role in the group. The result is a phat four-string groove that brings soulful wholeness to the project. Since then, WineGrog has continued its quest of creating music relative to issues we face in our lives, hoping to reveal the common humanity within us all. They are a vigilant force of writing, gigging, promoting and pursuing their main goal: to deliver a sincere, meaningful experience to the live show audience.
