Severin the Wanderer:
"An 80's peach. Alison Moyet has the most wonderful smoky voice, and this song was the first time I heard it. Later, when Yaz had splintered into Alison and Erasure, I saw her at the Beacon in NYC, a great show. Really, I can't think of anyone else who could sound truly soulful when backed by nothing but synths and drum machines. Permanently affixed to my love for this tune is the image of an English rose named Jacqueline Hudson and her assertion that Alison was "a right pretty girl for 13 stone." It was, I think, her sister who died on Pan Am Flight 310 over Lockerbie, Scotland. Amen. Ah, Jacquie. Where were ye when I needed ye? Fine times and sad. Bless you wherever you are."
