  • ***Late nights, new songs & its freezing!!***

    Hello,

Its snowing here in NYC & to be honest I was hoping the cold had packed its bags and pissed off somewhere else but nope Mr Cold has to come back and dumped a shit load of snow on Manhattan. Those icy winds are brutal! Anyway.......

So we are nearing completion of about 8 new tracks and I personally think its some of the best stuff we've ever written and its certainly a progression (yes better than 'Champion'). I guess its showing just how much we've grown as a band and how musically each one of us has developed. Songs I'm digging are Colour of Love, Gospel, 80's (not official title) & a new track called Nothing in the World. We've certainly had some late nights, with Coyle and I spending the last few days staying up until around 6am working. We find that some of the best ideas come in the wee hours of the morning. Yesterday I was working on the drums for Nothing in the World which has monster tom fills, gongs, timpani's & is one of the fastest songs we've ever written!!

Thanks to you all for being so patient but we do hope that the KYTE videos are keeping you all amused and as promised we'll have another new one up very soon. It may even star ME but I can assure you we are all very much alive and well.
We'll also be having a sale on all YV merch over the next couple of weeks so if the economy has hit you hard then here's your chance to get some cheap YV gear! Keep an eye on the store for the SALE!

Until next time I bid you farewell. In a bit

    Mal Taylor Esq xxxx

P.S. After Jon's birthday I don't think I could drink again. WORST Hangover of all time!!

  • ***A Little Note***

Hello little boys and little girls. Hope you're well and dandy. I'm good apart from that I pulled my hamstring playing football last night and it hurts to walk today.

Just thought I'd give you a little update. We're still busy working hard in the studio and we're all really excited about the new tracks. I know a lot of you are anxious to hear some new material but just remember that good things come to those who wait. In the meantime, we'll continue to put some "speaker" Kytes up to give you a teaser.

Tomorrow night our good friends Fiction Plane are playing at Arlene's Grocery, a fantastic little venue in the depths of the Lower East Side of Manhattan. We'll be heading down to see the guys perform before hitting the town to drink and eat hawt dawgs. Maybe we'll see some of you there?

For any trivia buffs reading Arlene's Grocery is where we played our first ever show on American soil. It was a secret gig for us to perform for some industry people so there's no record of it on our myspace gig listings. It was in June or July 2006, that's all I know.

My memory of that night is that my bass broke five minutes before we were due on stage. I had to borrow a bass off one of the other bands. The bassist was very unwilling at first but I said that I would treat it with respect and buy him a drink afterwards and he agreed and it's a good job he did because none of the other bands had bass players. I'm not sure what we would've done if he hadn't agreed to lend me the bass.

  • ***New Champion Mix, New Edit & Drums***

    Hi Kids,

Love is in the air & that means its time for a very quick update. So I've just added the new mix of the 'Champion' up on to our page & us YV lads think it sounds much better so we hope you all enjoy it. Secondly the gruesome twosome, DJ rockers & legends WeRD2 did a very nice edit of the remix they did for 'In My Head' & if you ask me I think they did a splendid job. I've added the new edit to the page so go check it out and get clubbing Ibiza style!! Also a quick plug that WeRD2 will be performing this Wednesday (18th) at New York's Bowery Electric venue. So check them mothers out!

Right now we are deep into new song territory and I've been very busy recording drums for what will end up to be around 10-11 new tracks. I'm particularly liking a track I was working on today called 'Gospel'. I all know you guys must be thinking "well Mal lets see you recording some drums cause your the best?" & I'm saying "yes you will see me recording some drums when I add a new video either today or tomorrow" Anyway Mat is laying some phat licks down for the monkey song & they sound PHAT.....PHAT I TELLS YA!!

I'll post the new video on the morrow.

Hope you all got someone who you don't know send you a valentines card :)

    Mal xx

  • *** Penguins ***

    Hey everybody, hope you're well.

Just thought I'd give you a little update. We're still busy working hard in the studio. It's all coming together pretty nicely and we're hoping that after we finish recording we can rehearse the songs up in time before we go on tour again in the Spring so we can give you guys a taster.

During a tea break today I was excited to eat some of the chocolate ration that I'd imported from England (no offense guys but your chocolate sucks) and I pulled a Penguin out of the treat tin. For those of you not in the know; a Penguin is a chocolate covered chocolate biscuit with chocolate in the middle. They are very chocolaty indeed. But I digress. When I looked at the picture of a Penguin I began thinking about whether a Penguin has knees or not.
We debated it for a while before I finally googled it and came across the website www. penguin. net.
In the FAQ section I found my question. I was actually a bit disappointed that I wasn't the first person to think about it but I was happy that I could settle the discussion, which had now become rather heated. The answer is yes, Penguins do have knees. They have very short legs, which means only the lower part is visible. Their knees and upper legs are covered in feathers to keep them warm and thus they look like they just have feet. Happy feet.

Anyway, that's enough about Penguins. The other thing I learned today is that you should be careful what you wish for. While I looked on in envy at the deep snow fall they'd been enjoying back home in the UK I started wishing that it would snow in NYC... and it did. And now Coyle and I fear that our soccer game might get cancelled tomorrow night due to the snow.

Please keep requesting In My Head on Sirius!
    Chocolate and snow,
    Jon.

  • *** Back on the road....***

Hello everyone, I hope you're well and have your outfits sorted. It's not wise to leave things until the last minute - unless it's a bargain vacation.

Today we head out on our six week tour of North America. We're really excited to end the year this way and can't wait to see you all at one of our shows, a Shiny Toy Guns show or Duran Duran show. We're looking forward to going to two places we've never been before: San Francisco and Montreal. We've heard their both fun towns.

We were advised today to let you know that if you're planning on coming to see us perform with Shiny Toy Guns then it's best to buy your tickets in advance. Here is a quick reminder of the dates:

    See you on the road!
    Happy Halloween.
