Bad Day Down is a modern (3rd generation) punk band with driving guitars and solid back end delivering powerful lyrics about the state of the world as they see it. While in love with staple punk bands such as Propagandhi, The Bouncing Souls and Strike Anywhere (as well as many eclectic influences outside punk) – Bad Day Down’s sound is still very much their own.
They all call Brisbane home, but only one is (strictly speaking) a 'local'. Ben ('b1' - guitars and vocals) is recently emigrated from the UK. Tommy (guitars and vocals) is American (but don't hold that against him, he's been in Australia for over 20 years). Hollis (drums) was born in Australia but for the past 10 years has lived in California. Ben ('b2' - bass and vocals) is the closest we have to a 'proper' Australian.
Bad Day Down's history has been an interesting one with more than a few line-up changes before settling down in December 2003.
Bad Day Down’s polito-ethical song titles such as “I’d Hate to be a Hated American Right Now” and “If This is Humane, then F**k Humanity” sum up the passion of Bad Day Down’s music.
Bad Day Down has just finished their full-length debut cd. out soon.
