Brad's dead fish came into being when three Ann Arbor high school students met in 1998 and decided to form a rock group. Our songs are primarily about the ins and outs of love relationships- isn't that what makes for good pop music? The name "brad's dead fish" resulted from the band's unauthorized borrowing of a power strip (used by drummer Scott Northway's brother Brad to power his aquarium filter) to plug their instruments in during practice. When Brad found out what his brother and the other bandmembers had been up to, he was upset and insisted that going without filtration during band practice would kill his fish. To our knowledge, none of Brad's fish actually died because of this, but the name stuck anyway.
