David Loris is a California born singer, songwriter and composer currently dedicated to multiple music writing projects, including pop, film, television, and theater compositions. Born September 25, 1977, Loris spent his childhood in Egypt and Italy, where he attended British schools, studying piano and composition and singing in choir from a young age.
In 1995, Loris returned to the United States in order to attend Brown University, where he began playing guitar and writing songs, drawing on the influences of Lou Reed, David Bowie, Beck and Radiohead in particular, and developing a style highly rooted in acoustic music and un-traditional vocal styles.
In 2000, after graduating Brown, Loris returned to Europe, to live in London. During this period he discovers Beat Poetry, the work of William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac leading him to experimentation with stream of consciousness poetry, a style that endures to this day in his approach to lyric writing.
In 2003, while living in Milan, Loris begins experimenting with recording his own music, at first using only a laptop, an inexpensive microphone, and a few simple samples. Though he completed a Masters Degree in Corporate Finance, he spent much of his time writing songs, reading audio engineering magazines and dreaming of the recording career that was soon to follow.
In 2006, now returned to Rome, Loris studies musical composition for film. After teaming up with percussionist and producer Fabio Locurcio, the two perform at many bars and clubs in and around Rome and start recording in Locurcio's studio. Loris ultimately widens his influences and improves his craft. landing some work television score writing in collaboration with film composer Michele Braga.
In 2008, Loris records his first full length album at Jati Studios in Rome. The album is produced and engineered by Fabio Locurcio and his brother Marco Locurcio. The album "Floating Away" is scheduled for release on Jatitute Records in October in conjunction with the respected Rough Trade label.
