1998 • drummer tobi and guitarist philippe leave the legendary swiss band gurd (www.gurd.net). after four years of hardcore, four records and several tours (with bands like such a surge, life of agony, pro-pain, schweisser), they needed to do something different 2000 • after a two-year musical break, tobi and philippe decide to build a rehearsal room in the basement of their house. the first songs are born on an 8-track 2001 • bass player flipper (ex lektor) joins the two. disgroove is born, named after the basel night club atlantis (known to locals as dis). the first live gig takes place at the nordstern club in basel and the feedback is great!
2002 • disgroove uses a live tape for a demo and then decide to start recording – the rehearsal room becomes a small studio • the band reaches the semi-final at the abart breakthru contest, organized by universal music 2003 • a four song demo is being released, for which the band gets nominated for the diesel-u-music award • in november/december, the first longplayer “disgroove.com” is recorded in their own studio. eric klinger, guitar player and producer of u.s. hardcoreband pro-pain, is coming over from pittsburgh to co-produce the record
2004 • disgroove signs a record deal with n-gage (www.n-gage.ch) • disgroove wins the RegioSoundCredit, a cultural fund of the states basel- stadt and basel-land • the first longplayer "down on myself" is released on june 1st, 2004 • the video for "down on myself" is being played on swiss tv stations SF2 and VIVA • disgroove supports "velvet revolver" at the musicfestival in winterthur
2005 • disgroove plays a lot of shows and writes songs for the second album • eric klinger also records and produces the successor of „down on myself“ in november • bass player flipper leaves the band because of family reasons and is being replaced by marek felis. disgroove now consists completely of the old gurd rhythm section
2006 • the second album „three“ is released in february, following a tour of germany supporting „die happy"
