“We are legions...We are irate...We are what you fear to be.” The power, the sound, and the relentless brutality of Godhelpus are without equal. Five years after the conception of the band, their mark on the scene has grown into a severe stab wound, infecting the masses one by one while tearing its way across the world. Heavily influenced by metal innovators like Black Sabbath, Slayer, Pantera and a variety of other musical masterminds, Godhelpus strive to resurrect a dying breed of metal, while staying true to themselves and their visions, and ignoring popular media. Proof of this lies in their past releases, “Come Damnation” and “Disable the Sun”, which have earned the band a reputation as a force to be reckoned with. The legions of GHU fans have also been growing, earning the band a great deal of respect regionally and worldwide as a true heavy metal band. Godhelpus have proven themselves by going head-to-head with some of the biggest leaders of multiple forms of extreme metal including but not limited to SUPERJOINT RITUAL, MACABRE, SOILENT GREEN, GOATWHORE, and BLUDGEON. GHU always held their own and, arguably, dominated some of the shows. The year 2003 marked the addition of Carlos Alvarez, former guitarist for Bludgeon, the first band ever signed to Metal Blade Records/Magic Circle Music by Joey DeMaio of Manowar. Take the thunderous percussive poundings of Ryan “Blaze” Blazek, combined with the aggressive yet articulate style of Carlos on bass, and you have an indestructible rhythm section. Add to the mix the murderous chainsaw-like guitar tones of Andy Avezzano and the intoxicatingly venomous vocal frequencies of Brian Leli. The result? A full-blown ugly, disgusting, repulsive, yet beautiful, intriguing, and captivating style of heavy music. With a new line-up and new material heavier and more solid than titanium-reinforced steel, there is certainly much in store for the future of Godhelpus. “The current line-up has made this band a hundred times stronger,” states Andy. “Not only are we stronger as a whole, but the new songs we are writing are insanely heavy and brutal. We have definitely taken the next big step in the evolution of the band.” This evolution radiates through each and every one of the bands new songs. The music is vicious and damaging, while the lyrics are not so much lyrics as they are psychotic essays. Without question, the sheer power and destruction of Godhelpus must be experienced to be believed. Be on the lookout for the new album and a tour to follow in 2004... “Godhelpus is really talented and I predict them as one of the futures leading heavy metal bands.” – Frediablo (Gorelord, Necrophagia, Soul Forsaken, Wurdulak)
