The history of London-based band Soundkraft is one of trial and error and meeting the right people at the right time. A band that combine a wealth of musical experience and influences of alternative rock and folk music not to mention English, Irish and Peruvian nationalities (don't bother with the jokes... they have heard them all!). The music has been described as energetic yet melodic acoustic rock with an alternative vibe. Coming from very different backgrounds and musical influences has helped to make the sound of the band a refreshing change from the norm. Stemming from the ashes of a previous band and packed with an arsenal of music that they created and developed then, guitarist Manuel Sanchez, bassist Bob Brockwell and drummer Declan Connolly went forward and, joined by frontman Paul Manning, founded Soundkraft. Why Soundkraft? In one word, Soundkraft signifies the whole purpose of this band, to "make" great music and respect music as a form of art and self-expressiveness. In German the word "Kraft" means power, and although the band's overall sound is very melodic, power and energy are key elements in Soundkraft's sound. The band has built on the previous band's audience which had grown substantially over the past couple of years due to constant gigging at venues in London such as The Dublin Castle, Hope & Anchor, Sound, Lock 17 and Caernarvon Castle, and a recorded EP which attracted independent label interest. Due to forced personnel changes to ensure an extremely stable and like-minded unit, Soundkraft was formed and has really found the identity it has strove for. They are currently playing the London club circuit in support of their first recording; a self-titled 3 song demo which is available for free in HMV and Virgin stores around the city. Selflessly giving their music for free has seen a dramatic increase in their audiences at their shows. This in turn has turned the band from mere hopefuls to serious contenders on the music scene. The future plan is to broaden their horizons outside of London and steadily grow into an international band.
