“If you wanna see me, turn on the T.V.,” sings frontman/songwriter Brett Cahoon, offering a glimpse into the rebellious spirit and relentless drive of Ten Years From Now. Haling from Yorktown, Virginia, Ten Years From Now was formed by Jason Burton (drums) and brothers Brett (vocals, guitar) and Jeff Cahoon (bass, vocals). Rising from the ashes of various local punk/hardcore and rock bands, the guys came together sharing a vision for something bigger. Marrying the songwriting of Brett Cahoon, which Billboard called exceptionally strong and commercially appealing, with the all out driving rhythm section of Jeff and Jason proved to fulfill that vision completely. Releasing their first full length effort in 2002, the self titled “Ten Years From Now” showcases musicianship and songwriting which is captivating audiences far beyond the reaches of their current Virginia stomping grounds. Songs like the aforementioned “T.V.”, which has earned the band radio play on Virginia rock stations, and “It’s Alright”, a heart wrenching account of love complete with a great sing along chorus, have effectively paved the way for the band to bring their brand of rock and punk to ever larger venues and audiences. These include opening spots for national acts such as the Suicide Machines (Side One Dummy Records), Against All Authority (Hopeless Records), Bigwig (Fearless Records), Avoid One Thing (Side One Dummy Records), and spots on the 2002, 2003, and 2004 Vans Warped Tour. 2004 has brought more studio work and the release of “Punk Enough?,” a song which has quickly become a crowd favorite with its catchy hooks, memorable vocals, and driving rhythms. Written after the 2003 warped tour experience, the song questions whether anyone who’s not tattooed, drunk, and stoned with a Mohawk could possibly be “punk” enough to fit in, “Can anyone tell me that I’m punk enough?” and boldly proclaims “I thought punk meant thinking for yourself.” This statement lies at the core of what Ten Years From Now has always been about: thinking for yourself and being yourself, on and off the stage. Current plans for the near future include more work in the studio, the release of another full length record, and a supporting tour. Contact Brett Cahoon (804)815-0678 harmonyboy74@cox.net
