Will you share my information with anyone I don't want you to?

We've added privacy controls in your Account Settings page to let you choose from three privacy settings controlling who can see your profile: everyone, only your friends, or no one at all. You can prevent your name/photo from showing up in people-search results.

Furthermore, you can hide a particular artist if you don't want anyone to see that you're listening to that artist. If you have playlists you'd like to keep private, you can block access to all your playlists, or hide individual playlists. Finally, if you don't want people to see if you are online or listening-now, you can also choose to hide that.

As an added precaution, whenever the Sidebar is fetching data we don't use your user-id, but rather an anonymous client-ID that only matches up with you on our servers. That way it's harder for a hacker to try to figure out what you're listening to.

Finally, we do our best not to publish data about your playback of podcasts, videos, voicememos, or audiobooks, which typically have the most private content. See our privacy policy for more details.
