How come the song I just played doesn't show on my profile?

You need to install the iLike Sidebar for iTunes and play music from that same computer for the music to show up in your iLike profile. Also, you need to be signed in to iLike at least once from that same machine. If you aren't seeing music you play show in your profile, one of the following may be happening:

1) If no music shows up, maybe your Sidebar isn't associated with your profile: From the computer where you run iTunes and the iLike Sidebar, visit http://www.ilike.com in your browser and log in. (more info: How do I Sign In on the Sidebar? It ....) It's even possible that your Sidebar is connected to another user account. If so, you will see a notification about this in the site header area (more info).

2) Songs won't report playback immediately: we wait until the middle of the song before we report a play on our site. This is probably not your problem, but just in case you were checking immediately after playing a song, that could be the issue.

3) Perhaps your computer has a firewall that blocks the iLike Sidebar from reaching the Internet: If you play music in iTunes and you don't ever see any "Related music" showing up in the iLike Sidebar, and if your user profile on iLike.com doesn't have any info about your music (not even your most-played songs or most-played artists), then likely you have a computer firewall preventing iLike from reaching the Internet. More info: How to configure your computer's firewall to give access ...

4) Perhaps only particular songs don't show: It's possible that most of your music is showing up, but not EVERY song you play. We filter out some of the music you play; we don't show everything on your profile. For example, we try to hide any data from playback of podcasts, audio books, voice memos, or videos, because we've received feedback that this data is often private. In addition, we actively try to filter out 'bad data'. For example, if you have a song named 'Track 04' by 'Unknown Artist', we simply ignore it and don't add it to your profile. We currently hide anything by 'Unknown Artist' or 'Various Artists'. We may improve this later, but for now that's how the system works.

5) Some international music doesn't show: Lastly, our system doesn't work too well with international character sets, so if you are seeing issues with international characters, hang tight, we're working on it.

6) There may be interference with other plugins: My iTunes and Sidebar are crashing, why? Try uninstalling them and checking to see if that helps.

Note: you must be using the latest version of the iLike Sidebar. If you have an older version of the Sidebar, we won't track if you played music from CDs, a friend's library, from WAV files, or directly from your iPod. if you have a version of the sidebar prior to 11/1 (for PCs) or 11/15 (for Macs), download the new one here: http://iLike.com/download. The Sidebar should update automatically, so it is unlikely that this is the problem you're experiencing
