"I mistook it for something else, and it was good."

"The new album is almost as good as Detlef Schrempf was at basketball."
"Some folks will probably drop me off their friend lists for this, but I can't help myself."

"It just does a lot of pretty things."

"When white Scots with teeny tiny little butts try out a mix between indie and Motown, good things can actually happen."
"This is a little too emotional for me . . . No it's not."
"The guiltiest pleasure of all."

"Under the Chavez revolution, all satirical romantic songs about anal sex will be banned."
"This entire album is just a wonderful mix of different sounds from rock, klezmer, mariachi, and Celtic traditions."

"Listen to this next to Vivaldi's original."
"The way this song was supposed to be . . . punk."
"Ironically, I was listening to this song while I was running in NYC when 6 thugs attacked me, broke my jaw, and stole my ipod. It sucked."
"Your earrings are dancing--they're flying in circles."
"This makes me happy and I don't know why."

"Makes you feel like a beatnik, or a swinger, or someone wearing a beret circa 1962."
"Brad Mehldau blends jazz, classical, and rock styles with an almost computer-like ability to deconstruct music. That isn't to say that he sounds like a computer (soulless, heartless, etc.). It's just that, as Mehldau improvises, he can draw out specific notes and tropes from a song and recompose them on the spot to form an entirely new work. This version of Radhiohead's Paranoid Android is particularly deft. It's a good introduction to Mehldau."
"This song is a bit difficult, but if you listen closely, it's almost like a symphony with four movements condensed into 8 minutes. The last thirty seconds make my tongue tickle and colors flash before my eyes, especially when I'm wearing headphones."
"Wonderful album for lovemaking with that special someone . . . or alone."

"Like being drunk and a teenager in a Nebraska cornfield. (Well, I've never been to Nebraska, but I spent college in Iowa.)"
"Like waking up in the sun with butterflies on your nose."
"It makes you feel like you can break windows with your teeth (there's also that song window licker)."

"Band of Horses feels kind of like Neil Young but better because it doesn't feel like old guys trying to play rock n' roll--though I guess if they stick around long enough, they will be old guys trying to sound young. Anyway, it's fairly simple indie rock with a slightly country feel. Wilco but more interested in partying. "

"This album is indie country soul or something like that . . . Kind of like sexy 1960s folk singers (Carole King, Joan Baez) showing up at your house at 3 am all strung out and jaded. Anyway, there's a good live concert of hers available as a free podcast at http://www.npr.org/programs/asc/archives/asc101/"

"This is really hard to find, but it was performed at a ballet once and hit me hard. Don't be afraid to cry if you can find it. It's a Philip Glass song performed by Dennis Russell Davies--very beautiful, Beethoven-like. I'd be happy to send the file to anyone interested. "
