"OK, on a Police binge today. I go for months without wanting to listen to them, but then I get on a roll and am blown away by the trio's sound. Still timeless, and for all its production and polish, it's still punk at its roots. No apologies that they're all masters at their instruments and Sting, wanker or not, wrote some brilliant lyrics. Stewart is still hands down the best rock drummer ever with apologies to Keith Moon."

"Anyone else going to Outsidelands SF this month? This song would be insane to see live. Can't get enough of the segment about 2/3's through. Peace, Tim"

"Haven't rec'd a song in quite some time even though I've been devouring things like the Hold Steady and such... This is great Yo La Tengo albeit 11 years old! Shows how timeless these guys are."

"Every time I hear these guys, I think "have I heard this song before?" because they combine a lot of familiar sounds and hooks but in their own unique voice. Bummed I missed them when they came through the west coast, I should have made the trip down to SF because I imagine their live show is intense. "

"Yesterday's KEXP song of the day, this song has a great 60's vibe to it and Zooey's voice reminds me a lot of Neko Case in go-go boots. M. Ward continues to impress me."
"This is song 13 of 13 on the normal release of Jack Johnson's latest album. Great wordplay throughout. I know some very respectable iLiker's out there in my friend's list don't think highly of Mr. Johnson, but he's definitely more complex when you spend some time with his music. So there! Peace, Tim"

"Maybe it's the variations of the high D chord strumming, but this is both sunny and a little melancholy at the same time. Joseph Arthur sings with great confidence and doesn't try to overdo anything. Nice."

"This song was just KEXP's song of the day and it's immediately infected me pea-sized brain. Is it the loose jangles of the rhythm guitars? Is it the soulful and uplifting background vocals? You decide. Find it at KEXP>>http://depts.washington.edu/kexp/blog/?p=4942"

"I bought The National's "Boxer" after the Male Goodbye's numerous recommendations. This is a great great great song. This band has a very studied production sound and I usually like it sloppier than this, but when it's done so well, I can't help but love it. Hopin' the sun's shining where you are."

"New album just got released and it's pretty damn solid. Some of the little hooks and melodies sound reminiscent of other Jack Johnson, but hey! I dug that, why not this, right? This song takes a good look at ourselves in the mirror, especially if the "us" is from the US of A. I hope all my fellow iLikers in the States have or are planning to vote if you're of age. ––Peace."

"At first blush, this is yes, another Jack Johnson song that sounds like a lot of other Jack Johnson songs. I've got it on "repeat" now figuring he didn't take such a long break between releases only to crap out re-tread sounds. Great phrasing in this song. I'm looking forward to his new release. --Peace."

These guys simply must come out with a full length album soon. The chemistry and production on everything I've heard them do is so damn hooky. Their beats happily embed themselves in my skull; I wake up with one of their songs in my head on numerous mornings. --Peace"

"Many thanks to Vydra for rec'ing this song. Wonder how I've not listened to The Rentals before, but this is a great intro to the band. --Peace."
"Find this song for free on the Reap and Sow site. Good band out of a struggling New Orleans."

"Kind of a strange path to actually find this song for a listen. I use "pownce;" a site that acts as a mini-blog tool for posting ephemera to friends. I "friended" a new site called Reap and Sow which is posting legal downloads M-F on their pownce page. This one is worthy of an iLike reco. Sloppy and intricate at the same time. Pownce is invite-only right now, but hit me up if you want in; I have a few invites left right now."

"Very much reminds me of Sigur Ros with lyrics I can understand :-P Good atmospherics in here and now I think I'll see what else is playable on their page here. --peace."

"A fantastic deep cut from a fantastic album. Hard to believe it's from '91, but still extremely topical now. Send out the peace vibes everyone."

"Rocking the Randy Newman. This song still resonates so many years after its writing. This is from a show back in 95 at the Vic in Chicago. Thanks to wjim who sent me CDs way back when.... --peace."

"Quit drinking 5 years back but this song makes me feel sloppy all over again :-P
Westerberg can do so much with a simple chord progression and a twist of phrase. --peace."

"OK, not obscure, not new; but damn! Led Zep was probably never tagged with bringing the funk but this still grooves decades later. -- where's that confounded bridge?"

"Immediately catchy riff going on plus some snappy drums makes for a fine Free MP3. Thanks, Red Sea Station. Found you on my sidebar while listening to the Shins, so you're in great company. --Peace."

""oh but yesterday I had a vision, beneath the tree where we once talked; of an old couple burning their love letters so their children won't be shocked." LOVE that! My wife and I talk about growing old together and this line brings a happy tear to the eye. --Peace."

"Good morning! It's rainy up here in NorCal so I thought I'd play some night time music and enjoy the quiet mood at the office. Can't say enough about the music this band made. Now if only I could understand the lyrics :-P
--Peace all!"

"Stacey Soleil rec'd Korea Korea a little while back and this is a new song from Hans. Good stuff. I really like the voice and energy. Looking forward to the CD, Hans!"

I love Yo La Tengo as much as the next person. But I don't know them well enough. I'll leave them to those who know them better. =) I loved Fire*Eater. And since I heard the familiar clang of 'We've Been Had' on a Saturn TV spot years ago, The Walkmen have been on heavy rotation ever since. Throw in Wedding Present and Weakerthans to make the decision even harder.
