Midlake - They Cannot Let It Expand

bubbly foreground beams into playful brass that is blissfully elegant. i recently became acquainted with Midlake, and i feel both lucky and sad, lucky to having got to listen to them, and sad cuz i hadnt listened to them before. however it is perfect timing with my new way of life: enjoying it /no vice of any type\

Tim Hecker - The work of art in the age of cultural overproduction

I've been listening to a lot from this great artist as of late. easily one of the most atmospherics catalogs out there. If you aren't acquainted to him then you guys probably should as the hypnotic textures and quasi-melodies modulate feelings with amazing craftsmanship. Or maybe you'll just hate him.
ps: a song with a Theodore Adorno reference it's always intriguing for me, is it for you?

Martha Wainwright - Factory

marha kicks some serious ass, i hadnt seen her perform ever not even on video. i love this track and i've hearing it alot since like 2 years ago, all her album. But i decided to do some youtube browsing and i was totall mesmerized by her live performances, so full of energy.
So since i make a living out of editing and i just love it so much i decided to make a mashup between that vid of martha performing Factory, to the music of The Beatles' Rocky Racoon. u can see the results on my new blog (yeah im pluggin in my blog, is that distateful? i dont earn money for it) and also download the full tracks of both Factory by Martha and Rocky Raccon by the Beatles. at: http://iLikemuzik.blogspot.com or at my youtube channel www.youtube.com/paudrillardo

Justice Vs Simian - We Are Your Friends (Original

upbeat, uplifting, and yet devilishly fun. this was one of the smash hits from 2006 but its taunting well spirited and yet violent delivery lifts me up everytime the I listen to the first 4 beats. as recognizable as the first 3 seconds of Billie Jean, an instant dance classic!

Kanye West - Stronger

daft punk it's probably one of the most amazing bands ever, and kayne probably one of biggest egomaniacs around. the result is one of the most outstanding tracks of the new century, put he megalomania aside and you got one of the catchiest tunes, and one hella amazing vid. Finally Jap's cool again just like during the eighties, people seem to go krazy around Japanese imagery. Maybe a collaboration with Kraftwerk could only surprass this brilliant piece of ego bursting plain intellect.

Travis - The Humpty Dumpty Love Song

Travis is the prefect example of the little band that could.....have. Among their sometimes awfully flawed albums there are ssome inspired tracks, realy inspired tracks. Travis has had the bad luck of having been labeled by the rock magazines as whether the new Radiohead, the Scottish Coldplay, and so forth they've never been taken seriously as a cool small band that has had good hits, but that works silently in very heartful songs , nonetheless sincere. It is my personal opinion that if they hadn't been put under the shadow of many more popular bands, they could've have the chance of not being dismissed as another British whiny band.
This song with it's pedestrian lyrics it's a beautiful composition, quiet, honest, and bittersweet.

Paul McCartney - Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End

this is one amazing piece of music played live by Paul. This is one really standing piece of music segued together. It's pretty much Paul's composition so I guess he really captures the spirt of the trio of songs every time he plays it with his band.

The Beatles - Mother Nature's Son

The Microphones - Universe

this is just part of what is really an amazing and epic album. It should be listened without any interruptions, and from the beginning to the end. No interruptions. Phil Elvrum created a whole distinctive mood throughout the album which somehow describes the creation, destruction and rebirth of anything. It feels like the most accurate translation of the beginning of life on Earth in pop music format (though highly experimental). But it could describe any life cycle, even the one of a soda can. Beautiful.

Broken Social Scene - Cause = Time

i love every bit of this song. the tune it's full of raw inspiration and the lyrics infused subversive lust. Feist companion vocals are the key that really make the song such an amaizng piece, that and a bridge with a saxophone perpetuated in a limbo of confusing infatuation. "little kingdoms in your chest" it's one of the most ebautiful verses i've heard in a while.

Pixies - All Over the World

I enjoy so much this Pixies song. There's a lot of experimentaton during the long bridge that makes the song almost epic in pop format. I recommend it absolutely. it's like you got ok computer radiohead, the name of the band is talking heads, the microphones merged with a grandaddy demo tune.
