Richmond, Va, Winter 2006/2007: Mark Strong and Benvolio Willson give living breath to We Know, Plato! and seven songs in seven days...
The band was christened We Know, Plato! perhaps as a rebel yell towards any convention, rule, and/or modern/classic thought that seeks to tie us down...there are possibilities, however, that it was really a name drawn from a hat against "The _____(s)" names.
A band right out of Richmond, Va, We Know, Plato! roots itself in Alternative, Indie-edged Pop Rock and branches out among jazz, blues, classic rock, folk, and maybe even a sprouting twig for gospel? Well, think as far as Josh Rouse "Sparrows Over Birmingham" gospel.
Benvolio and Mark compose the melodies as a duo, and -until very soon- do all of the Everything themselves, within the recordings. They are well-inspired by good beer, fine women, and great films like, oh, say- The Neverending Story?; but they're even more inspired by the nighttime and all of its amenities and capabilities, including inclement weather, back-country/city drift drives, and eerily phenomenal (as well as phenomenally eerie) sights and sounds.
